The 2023-2024 Lessons begin on September 26th, 2023. The first lesson held on September 26th is free. Regular lessons will begin on October 3rd. Classes for new dancers 12 years old and up are held on Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. – schedule will vary by holidays and inclement weather. Lessons are at the Ida Sue School, Oldman Road, Wooster Ohio. (Please see home page for directions.) Our instructor will be Mike Brugger.
Partners are not necessary to join the Gnat Boxers Square Dance Club. However, like most things in life, it's more enjoyable to learn with family and friends. Bring your spouse, friend or family member and join the Gnat Boxers for fun, fellowship, and club activities plus it's a great source of excercise! We welcome all ages from teens on. If your partner can't participate at a lesson, existing club members will be there to ensure you have a partner for each lesson. Mike will be providing instruction on Mainstream Square Dance Calls. Mainstream calls are the basic calls that are included by most square dance callers during dances.
The cost of lessons is $80 per person which covers 20 lessons. Many members of the Gnat Boxers Square Dance Club also attend the lessons to assist students. A formal promotion exercise is held for new dancers upon completion. Once promoted, new dancers will be able to dance at any club, anywhere.
